The Industrial Park in Newburyport turned up the pair of adult American Kestrels on the 29th. The young of the year appear to have left.

Three different Red-tailed Hawks were hunting in various locations around the Industrial Park on the 29th as well.
A trip to Gloucester on Sunday, Aug. 22 found an adult
male Peregrine Falcon roosting on the City Hall Tower.
This is my earliest "fall" date for a falcon on the tower. The 2nd image
shows the lack of bands on it's legs.

A Belted Kingfisher hunting the pools in the Newburyport
Industrial Park and 4 very young Carolina Wrens awaiting their next feeding.
This would be the wrens 2nd or 3rd nest at this point in the year.
Two young Cooper's Hawks were seen in the Industrial park on the 22nd and I couldn't resist the pollen covered Honey Bee.
A molting male Ruby-throated Hummingbird with it's landing gear down and a spider that set up shop in front of the house.
A trip to Sandy Point on Aug. 16 for a shorebird fix
didn't disappoint! These two hatch year Peregrine Falcons,
that were there for the same reason, put on quite a show as they played a
game of "buzz off... this is my beach"
The banded falcon on the left was driven from the beach by
the bird on the right with the bright yellow feet!
I'll be reporting the band numbers and posting the data here when it
arrives.
An adult female American Kestrel seen in the Industrial Park on Aug. 15
From the VERY large, a young Bald Eagle seen in Salisbury to the VERY small an adult male Ruby-throated Hummingbird seen in Essex.
A female & male Ruby-throated Hummingbird spent a bit of time at the feeders on the 13th.
The ants & Bumblebees enjoyed the sugar water as well when the Hummers weren't there.
A very colorful Sphinx Moth spent the day on a sign near the office while the House Fly's days came to an end in the Robber Fly's grip
A young Broad-winged Hawk was hunting over the marsh along Heartbreak Rd. in Ipswich on the 2nd.
| A very recently hatched Least Tern chick, seen above, to the right and just under Mom, was seen at Sandy Point State Reservation on the 9th. |
