Tuesday, October 21 to 26, 2008 found 2 Dickcissels feeding with the House Sparrows. On Monday, October 27
only the brighter individual was seen and Tuesday the 28th found none.... but... Wednesday the 29th yet another
Dickcissel, the 4th this fall and a very dull bird, perched in the Trumpet Creeper for several minutes.

The 4th Dickcissel of the fall was only seen for a brief time mid afternoon on October 29.

A second Dickcissel joined the hatch year bird in the yard today. As the afternoon progressed they stayed closer
together until they were the only birds feeding, finally leaving the yard together at last light.

For the second time this fall the local House Sparrow flock has pulled in a wayward Dickcissel, this one appears
to be a hatch year bird where the earlier bird, seen below, was an adult male.
